On Thursday 22nd October, our school Pipe Band were privileged to play at the Launch of the NI Poppy Appeal at Colebrooke House, with Viscount Alan Brookeborough and Lady Brookeborough in attendance.
Senior members of the NI Royal British Legion, President, Chairman and Vice-Chairman were also in attendance as well as the High Sherriff for County Fermanagh, members of Enniskillen cadets and even the wolfhound Yoko, who is the mascot of the RBL.
The Pipe Band was directed by Mr Cecil Jones, and they played both before and after the formal proceedings. During an Act of Remembrance, the Last Post and Reveille were bugled by Principal cornet player of the School Brass Band, Abbey Johnston. The lament was performed by Pipe Major, Kerri Carrothers. In addition to the full band performances, there was a duet feature by Matthew and Emily Brownlee. Matthew has recently competed very successfully at the World Pipe Band Championships, ably accompanied by his sister.
Our A’ Level Performing Arts pupils recently enjoyed a trip to the MAC Theatre in Belfast to see Tennessee Williams’ classic play, The Glass Menagerie.
From powerful performances to striking staging and characterisation, pupils had the opportunity to experience live theatre at its best and gain valuable insights to inspire their own performance work.
